Getting started

Connect a Zerodha account

Link a Zerodha account through your own Kite Connect app and log in once a day to trade it from every screen.

What you need

  • A Zerodha trading account.
  • A Kite Connect app from developers.kite.trade. Zerodha charges for Kite Connect API access; check their current pricing.
  • Your plan must include live accounts (see Billing).

Your Zerodha password and TOTP are only ever typed on Zerodha's own login page. We never ask for them.

1. Add the account

Open Accounts → Add account, choose Zerodha, give it a name (for example Self – F&O) and optionally your Zerodha client ID (like AB1234).

2. Create your Kite Connect app

  1. On developers.kite.trade, create an app.
  2. Click Connect next to the account in Accounts. Copy the redirect URL shown there and set it as the app's redirect URL.
  3. Paste the app's API key and API secret into the same window and save.

The key and secret are encrypted and kept only by the trading engine. They are never shown again (only the last four characters of the key).

3. Log in once a day

Zerodha ends every API session at 6:00 AM IST (an exchange/broker rule). Each trading day:

  1. Open Accounts and click Log in to Zerodha.
  2. Log in on Zerodha's page (user ID, password, TOTP).
  3. You are sent back to Accounts. The account shows Active and Logged in until 6:00 AM.

If you log in as a different Zerodha client than the one saved on the account, the login is refused. We remind you at 8:45 AM IST on weekdays if an account still needs its login (turn emails on or off in Settings → Notifications).

How orders work

  • Orders from the terminal, copy trading, TradingView webhooks and options strategies go to Zerodha with all the usual checks (lot size, price band, risk limits, kill switch).
  • Market and SL-M orders are sent with Zerodha's automatic market protection.
  • Fills, rejections and cancellations arrive live from Zerodha and update positions immediately.
  • Orders placed directly in Kite or the Zerodha app are not affected and are not copied.

Disconnect

Click Disconnect next to the account. The saved key and secret are deleted and the day's session is ended.

Static IP and exchange rules (since 1 April 2026)

SEBI's retail algo framework applies to every order sent through a broker API, including orders sent through TradeBridge.

  • Static IP. Zerodha accepts order placement, modification and cancellation only from the static IP address registered in your Kite Connect developer profile (IP Whitelist: a primary IP, plus an optional secondary one; one change per calendar week; the same IP may be used only for your family accounts). Requests from any other address are rejected. Reading data (balance, order book, positions, prices) works from any address.
  • 10 orders a second. Up to 10 orders a second need no separate exchange registration. TradeBridge never sends faster than that per account.
  • Market protection. Market and SL-M orders are sent with automatic market protection (market_protection = -1), as Kite Connect requires.
  • Your responsibility. Registering the IP, and staying within the broker's terms for API and third-party use, is between you and Zerodha. If you are unsure whether your setup is allowed, ask Zerodha's API support before trading.
